Why might I go to a chiropodist / podiatrist?
A chiropodist / podiatrist can provide effective treatment on a wide range of complaints from simple nail cutting, corn and callous removal to painful joints in the foot and leg.
What is a chiropodist / podiatrist?
There is no difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist. Podiatrist is the term used for chiropodists in other English speaking countries. Chiropody / podiatry is the assessment of the foot and the treatment and prevention of diseases or disorders of the foot by therapeutic, surgical, orthotic and palliative means. Chiropodists who are HPC registered train for 3 years at University. During their training they cover all medical subjects.
What will happen on my first visit?
You will have a comprehensive assessment and treatment depending on your individual needs. The chiropodist / podiatrist will also provide you with advice on good foot care and keeping your feet healthy.
How often will I need treatment?
Depending on the condition of your feet sometimes we can provide a single treatment or palliative care every 6-8 weeks to provide simple foot care.
